The Secret
In 1992, in Oita Prefecture, Kyushu, Japan, an elderly tea farmer named ToukuJu dedicated his life to cultivating the finest Gyokuro tea, one of Japan’s highest-grade green teas. Despite being in his seventies, spending long hours working under the sun, and having silver hair and the marks of time on his body, his facial skin remained remarkably smooth, fair, and virtually wrinkle-free, with refined pores and no visible blackheads or sunspots.
During her summer break, his daughter, Meiko, returned home and, out of curiosity, closely observed her father’s daily routine. She eventually discovered the secret behind his “ageless skin” – every morning, ToukuJu would wash his face with freshly harvested, unprocessed Gyokuro tea leaves from his own plantation. Intrigued, Meiko began researching the skincare benefits of Gyokuro and found that it is rich in natural active compounds beneficial for the skin, offering powerful repairing, soothing, and antioxidant properties.
Attempt
Inspired by this discovery, Meiko combined Gyokuro with Japan’s traditional herbal flower Nemophila and handcrafted a natural herbal cream. When tested among villagers, the cream demonstrated remarkable effectiveness in improving acne, pigmentation, allergies, eczema, and even insect bite-induced skin inflammation. The product quickly gained popularity, earning a stellar reputation far and wide.
The Extraordinary Journey Begins
While studying in the United States, Meiko integrated modern scientific research with advanced botanical extraction techniques to further isolate the active skincare compounds in natural ingredients, successfully incorporating them into her formulations. She established the brand Nemofira, naming it after Nemophila, symbolizing purity, gentleness, and a natural, non-irritating approach to skincare.
